The Exterior of static caravans tend to start looking tired in their later life. The metal panels become faded in colour and dull, and windows begin to deteriorate. The more expensive caravans you can buy have started using domestic double glazed windows. These are great and will easily outlast the life of your caravan. The less expensive windows may start to look a little shabby. There is opportunity to fit new frames to your caravan. If you’re considering this you should do a simple business case. Cost of new windows vs the practical remaining usable life of the rest of the caravan. You have to ask yourself is it worth it. In fact it would have been much cheaper to buy the more expensive domestic style windows in the first place.
Exterior Panels
The sheet panels on your caravan are much harder to replace especially if you want to replace single panels with colour match. UV light and driving wind and rain erode the paint/powder coating of the panels. The panels are usually aluminium so will not be harmed if the bare metal becomes exposed it is simply an aesthetic. You could try spray on car wax on regular occasions. This will help protect the caravans paint coating and make it gleam.
Cleaning The Exterior Panels Of Your Caravan
You can jet wash the exterior of your caravan. Avoid spraying to close to the window seals as this can result in the double glazing failing and moisture getting in-between which looks terrible. Also avoid any sensitive areas of the caravan such as vents, especially the Central heating boiler vent. Try not to get too close when using the jet wash. Take at least a few steps back to reduce the power of the jet. Work from top down. Agitating with a foaming brush first will really speed things up and you will end with a better result.
